Ever since the first day that Blake and I met, we knew that we wanted to have a farm. We’ve always had a garden and pets, but we have wanted to expand for a couple of years now. We both believe in living as simply and holistically as possible, which not only means living off of the land but with the land. What does that mean? It means for us, that unless it’s absolutely necessary, we will not cut down and destroy trees which are the natural habitat for so many wildlife and we will use more natural, holistic ways of dealing with unwanted vines and greenery that destroys these habitats. We have a lot of Kudzu and Chinese privet on our farm so we will be using animals such as pigs and sheep to keep those pesky greens at bay. If you are not familiar with Kudzu or Chinese privet, we will talk more about that, but just know that these invasive plants basically suffocate and destroy the trees and the land. They can overtake the land and their environment very quickly. We do not want to use harmful chemicals so here come the animals! We will be adding the small animals this spring and early summer so stay tuned for the progress!
